Continuing its long-standing tradition of service to the community, the Rotary Club of Norwich has just completed distributing over 350 winter coats to needy children of Norwich.
Great Big Thanks to Rodney and Lucille for organizing the Mahan Coat Fund this year.
The children receiving the coats were identified through eight local agencies who provide services for those in need; United Community and Family Services, Norwich Human Services, Backus Hospital, Thames River Family Program, TVCCA family shelter, the Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, and Madonna Place.  There was a 20% increase in the coat requests, and the Norwich Rotary was able to fill every one. The Rotary Club is working with Operation Warm, Inc.®, a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to distributing high-quality, new winter coats to children in need. Rodney worked hard to establish a system this year which is now set up and will make the process much easier next year.   Rodney received a 110% pin for all his work, and both he and Lucille were given a Service Above Self Coin.
