FellowshipBonnie Hong Birthday’s – Ed Seder & Paul Blanchard.  No Visiting Rotarians.  Rotarians with guests:  Bonnie Hong introduced Ernie St. Louis.  Bonnie told the club of her exploits in Hawaii and doing make-ups there.  Bonnie encouraged all members to do make up when they are traveling on vacation.  She and Ben however will not be making up at a sunrise Rotary again as it’s “just too darn early in the morning!”  Bonnie went on to explain that it is proper to exchange club banners as it shows good will. Many of the banners tell the story of a club or the city or town they come from.  She did come home with a nice pin from Hawaii however!


Announcements:  Next week’s meeting will be held at the Prime 82 Restaurant in Norwich.  Our speaker with be Norwich Police Chief Louis Fusaro on the subject of the proposed new Police Department being relocated downtown.  John Bulduc still needs volunteers to help distribute dictionaries on the 24th.  5 more people would be ideal.  Pick up will be at UCFS.  Volunteers are still needed for the Amber Alert project that will be signing up children at TVCCA on 10/16 from 5pm to 6:30pm.  Contact Mike MateraNancy Gentes is looking for players for the Rotary Team in the Annual Trivial Pursuit Fundraiser for Madonna Place.  Also, keep in mind the Thanksgiving Food Challenge with Liberty Bank.

Happy DollarsAntonio Gooding hosted.  Antonio gave $22.00 in honor of his and his wife Julie’s 22nd wedding anniversary.  They went to a play in NYC!  Paul Blanchard gave in honor of his birthday.  He stated that he’ll be able to start collecting Social Security!  It can’t be!  Jim OShea went on a Salmon fishing holiday and had stories about bad weather and a tent canopy that had many gallons of water waiting to spill on him!  Wendy Ladd said she had a great time at the recent District Membership Meeting.  Mike Gordon gave $20.00 for Deb’s Challenge and in honor of Ed Seders 99th birthday!  Jim Konrad reminded the club of tonight’s debate between State Senate Candidates Chris Coutu & Cathy Osten sponsored by the Bulletin and the Greater Norwich Area Chamber of Commerce at the Kelly Middle School.  Larry Fowler gave $20.00 for Deb’s Challenge and for his daughter’s birthday. Kathleen Stauffer gave for the recent road race to benefit ARC and for attending the Membership Conference.  Andy Grant gave for his Dad who is a survivor of a Japanese POW camp in WWII and for his daughter’s road race.  Bonnie Hong gave $20.00 for Deb’s Challenge and another $20.00 to entice members to wear a couple of turkey costumes and solicit funds from the public for the Liberty Bank Thanksgiving Food Drive.  Manny Kadish gave $20.00 for Deb’s Challenge and $5 for leaving for California to visit family.  Andy Nollman gave for his parents return to Florida and for Rich Pascal loaning his conference room to him to get him out of a jam.  Gary Salinsky gave $20.00 for Deb’s challenge.  Rodney Green told a story about Clinton’s visit to Norwich and doing a Bill Clinton impersonation and wearing a turkey costume in the Norwich Christmas Parade!  Jay Waitte gave telling the club he and Kate are leaving for Colorado Springs for his 40th Class Reunion rom the Air Force Academy.

Program: There was no program however President Jim OShea spoke briefly about the District Membership Conference and came away with lots of ideas from that meeting.  He encouraged all members to wear their Rotary membership lapel pin every day and not just on meeting days.  The membership committee will be encouraging members to come up with prospective people and businesses to bring in to Rotary.
