  • Next week we will get the details on this year's Liberty Bank Thanksgiving food drive.
  • Our Celebrate Diversity Event will be Monday, September 25.
  • On the 18th, we dedicated our new Peace Poles. By all acclaim the event was an enormous success. It was very well attended. The club received a plaque in honor of our becoming the first City of Peace in the state of Connecticut.

  • Mary and Kevin are always looking for ideas for speakers at meetings. They are especially interested in entertaining, fun presentations, Pulitzer Prize winning authors, major league baseball players, lumberjacks, and current Broadway actors but no bagpipers. 
  • Our next Board meeting will be Wednesday, October 11 at 11:00. At our October club assembly meeting we will get a report from the meeting location committee.
  • Superintendent’s Award luncheon will likely be on November 15th at the Holiday Inn.
  • Rodney reported that we have 1,032 requests for coats. So far we have received about half of them. After they are all sorted the rest will be ordered.
  • The southeast and Norwich area women and girls club Will sponsor a celebration of women Friday, September 27 at the Hilton. The cost for this breakfast will be $35 per person contact the Community foundation.
  • Thanks go to Keith and Nancy for working on a grant from the Chelsea bank to support the Mahan Coat fund.
  • We will be sponsoring two tables at the Madonna place Trivial Pursuit contest. The event will take place on November 4. Contact Nancy if you would like to participate.
  • Barry Levinson brought some of Pam Aikens’ new books on the history of Rotary in New London. He is selling them for only $20 and left order with us.
Happy Dollars:  with Rodney. Last week he played in the Chestnut Sreet Playhouse golf tournament. Thanks to their fundraising effort's, they have paid off their past due utility bill and have made repairs to the front of the building.
Jim Daly is going to a patriots game this weekend. He also wished Nancy a happy birthday and welcomed his friend Gabrielle to disco to the meeting.
Bonnie congratulated Nancy for her birthday and also thanked her for her work on the happy dollars committee. She had many people to thank for our successful Peace Pole dedication.
Gary was not here last week because he was at Myrtle Beach visiting family. They dodged the bullet with hurricane Irma but he is more impressed with his good luck dodging the bullet for our golf tournament. He expressed gratitude to the supporters of the event.

Pres. Kathleen thank Stan for making the auction purchase, and Bonnie for the Peace Pole dedication, Lottie for inspiring the Diversity event, Rodney for the coat project, Mike for the Amber Alert, and Gary for the golf tournament.
Nancy thanked rotary for sponsoring two teams for the Madonna Place trivia contest.
Jim O’ said that bottom dwelling fish tend to swallow stones for ballast when there is bad weather coming.
Andy wished Nancy a happy birthday and let us know that Stan Lucas is quite the tennis player.
