Presiding: President Kathleen

Invocation: Gary Young

WELL, ANOTHER YEAR HAS COME AND GONE
AND SOME OF YOU MADE PROMISES ON MONDAY MORN
RESOLUTIONS TO START OFF 2018
A PROMISE TO BE NICER AND NOT SO MEAN

A PROMISE TO HAVE A LIFE FULL OF ACTIVITY
A PROMISE TO READ A BIT MORE AND WATCH LESS TV
A PROMISE TO BE BENEFICIAL, ALWAYS FAIR AND TRUE
A PROMISE TO BUILD GOOD WILL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO

A PROMISE TO BE CALMER AND A LITTLE MORE QUIET
A PROMISE TO LOSE WEIGHT BY GOING ON A DIET
A PROMISE TO EXERCISE – TO BE IN BETTER CONDITION
BUT THESE PROMISES SEEM LITTLE MORE THAN EMPTY TRADITION

WHY? YOU ASK DO I HAVE LITTLE OR NO SUCCESS
TRYING TO STRAIGHTEN OUT MY LIFE AND FIX ALL THE MESS
THE ANSWER’S OUT THERE SOMEWHERE - LET ME JUST MAKE MENTION
THAT CHANGING PERSONAL LIFESTYLE REQUIRES MORE THAN GOOD INTENTION

I KNOW I’VE TRIED A HUNDRED TIMES TO CHANGE WHERE I’VE BEEN GOIN’
FOR THOSE TIMES THAT IT WORKED – I’LL SHARE WHAT I’VE BEEN KNOWIN’
NEVER TRY TO MAKE A CHANGE WITHOUT SOMEONE BY YOUR SIDE
AND THERE’S NO BETTER PARTNER THAN THE LORD HIMSELF – HIS ARMS ARE OPEN WIDE

SO COME ON NEW YEAR – WE’RE READY – GIVE US YOUR BEST SHOT
THE LORD AND I TOGETHER WILL GIVE IT ALL WE GOT

NOW LET’S GIVETHANKS FOR THE USUAL STUFF
FOR THE FOOD AND FELLOWSHIP ALWAYS MORE THAN ENOUGH
AND UNTIL WE GET TOGETHER AGAIN
LET’S PRAISE THE LORD AND SAY AMEN
